Monday's Promise, Tuesday's Carrie Parry
Carrie Parry is a NYC-based designer whose guiding principles are based on the UN Global Compact. Meaning not only is her Fall collection killer sleek, it's also socially responsible.
All garments are produced in NYC, all fabric printing is done in San Fran with an ecofriendly process, and she sources materials from the States whenever possible. She also uses materials that are as sustainable as possible, including recycled polyester and organic wool (I mean, the sheep are free-range. Pretty good.).
She also supports Indian artisans. Her woven wool is produced by Panchachuli women weavers in the Indian Himalayas, which gives these women social and economic independence and preserves their amazing weaving and knitting craft and heritage.
(While her vibe is a little schoolmarm-y for me at the moment, and I'm a little too broke to buy her creations just yet, I trust her aesthetic and love her inspiration board.)
Images from the Carrie Parry website, where you can also get a glimpse at the Fall collection, read more about the inspiration and methods, and buy a couple pieces from the collection.
